Planning to visit Tianmen Mountain (天门山, Tiānmén Shān) in Zhangjiajie (张家界)?
The famous main Tianmen Mountain Cableway (天门山索道) has suspended operations from October 13, 2026, for upgrading works.
BUT DON’T CANCEL YOUR VISIT!
TIANMEN MOUNTAIN REMAINS OPEN!
Here’s what has changed:
❌ Route A (A线) — Suspended
❌ Route B (B线) — Suspended
❌ One-way Routes 1 & 2 (单程游1线、2线) — Suspended
Route C (C线) — OPEN
The Tianmen Cave Express Cableway (天门洞快线索道) continues operating.
🏔️ HOW TO VISIT NOW?
Follow Route C:
1️. Enter via Mountain Gate (山门).
2️. Take the Tianmen Cave Express Cableway (天门洞快线索道).
3️. Visit Tianmen Cave (天门洞).
4️. Take the mountain escalators (穿山自动扶梯) to explore the summit.
5️. Return using the same transport system.
Ticket sales: 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
Operations begin: 8:00 AM
WHEN WILL THE MAIN CABLEWAY REOPEN?
No reopening date has been announced.
DAD’S TIP
The famous long cableway ride from Zhangjiajie city is unavailable, but you can still enjoy Tianmen Mountain!
If you’ve already booked Routes A or B, contact your booking provider about changes or refunds.
