China Is Bigger Than It Looks
Maps don’t prepare you for China’s scale.
The Forbidden City is larger than most people imagine.
Railway stations feel like airports.
City parks seem to go on forever.
Even a simple stroll can become an afternoon of unexpected discoveries.
Don’t try to see everything.
Slow down and enjoy where you are.
Expect a Few Surprises
China doesn’t always work the way it does back home.
You may pay with your phone more often than your wallet.
You might use a translation app to order lunch.
You may hear electric vehicles gliding quietly through the streets instead of the sound of traffic you expected.
At first, some things may feel unfamiliar.
Very quickly, many of them simply become part of the adventure.
Don’t Worry If Everything Isn’t Perfect
Perhaps your train platform takes a few extra minutes to find.
Maybe the restaurant menu is only in Chinese.
Or you accidentally walk a little farther than planned.
Every traveler has moments like these.
Don’t let them define your day.
Sometimes the stories that begin with,
“We took the wrong turn…”
become the funniest memories of the trip.
The Moments You’ll Remember Most
Before traveling, most people picture the famous places.
The Great Wall.
The Forbidden City.
The Terracotta Warriors.
And they are every bit as impressive as you’ve imagined.
But don’t be surprised if your favorite memories come from somewhere else.

Sometimes the answer comes from a museum.

China Doesn’t Expect You to Know Everything
You don’t need to speak fluent Chinese.
You don’t need to understand every dynasty before you arrive.
You don’t need a perfect itinerary.
You simply need an open mind.
China has a wonderful way of teaching those who are willing to look a little closer.
